What Kodiac Scholar is

Scholar is a research assistant grounded in the Kodiac monograph library: 758 compound monographs covering chemistry, mechanism, pharmacokinetics and the quality of the evidence behind each one. When you ask about a compound, Scholar answers from that library and links the monograph so the claim can be checked against the source rather than taken on the assistant's word. When a compound is not in the library, it says so instead of guessing.

It was built for the same reader Kodiac was built for: someone who reads pharmacology directly, wants receptor-level specificity rather than a summary, and would rather be told that the evidence is thin than be given a confident answer that is not supported. It is a reference and reasoning tool for laboratory research. It is not a clinical tool, and the boundaries below are not decoration.

Three depth modes

Depth is chosen per message, not per account. A quick identity check and a full mechanistic review are different jobs and cost different amounts of reasoning, so the mode is a control you hold rather than a setting the system guesses at.

LIGHT

Quick consult.

Concise and direct. Skips mechanism deep-dives unless they are asked for. One to three short paragraphs, or a brief structured answer. Quick reference work and fast consults.

CLAUDE HAIKU 4.5 · MAX OUTPUT 1500 TOKENS

NORMAL

Default working mode.

Mechanism and reasoning wherever they inform the answer. Cites compounds, half-lives, and receptor targets when they are relevant. The everyday research consult.

CLAUDE SONNET 5 · MAX OUTPUT 6000 TOKENS

HEAVY

Exhaustive analysis.

Full mechanistic analysis with receptor-subtype specificity, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic considerations, and half-life. Mines non-English literature where it is relevant: Russian peptide bioregulator work, Chinese pharmacology, Japanese neuroscience. Surfaces obscure and orphan compounds in the same class, cites primary sources, and treats the reader as a peer-level analyst.

What works here today

  • The monograph library, indexed. All 758 Kodiac compound monographs are available to the assistant by name, class, mechanism, indication or document id. 631 of them are published and are linked directly; the remainder are written but not yet public, and Scholar tells you that rather than inventing a link.
  • Three depth modes, chosen per message. Light, Normal and Heavy run different models at different reasoning depths, described above.
  • Evidence grading in the answer. Scholar separates in vitro from animal from human work, names the species and the model system, and calls out where a literature is dominated by a single laboratory.
  • A free account. Sign in with an email address. No password exists: a link is sent, it works once, and it expires in fifteen minutes.

What is not here yet

These ran on the previous Kodiac storefront and have not been rebuilt on this site. They are listed because knowing what is missing is more useful than finding out mid-session.

  • Uploading your own literature. Scholar answers from the Kodiac library only. There is no private corpus, no per-message attachment, and nothing you send is indexed or retained beyond the conversation in your own browser.
  • Compound profile pages, certificate-of-analysis extraction, vendor and lot provenance records, and saved research notes.
  • Paid tiers. Nothing on this site can take payment yet, so every account is a free one and Heavy mode is not reachable. The tiers below are recorded so they are legible, not as an offer.

Tiers

Scholar has four access levels. Guest is the free account this page signs you into, with a small daily allowance on the two lighter modes. Heavy mode is reserved for the two upper tiers, because it runs the largest model at maximum reasoning effort. The prices below are the ones published on the previous storefront and are recorded here for reference.

The Guest allowance resets at 00:00 UTC. Paid quotas covered one calendar month and reset on the first of the month, UTC. No Scholar tier can be purchased on kodiac.bio today, so every account is a Guest account.

What Scholar does not do

Scholar is held to the same research-use-only posture as the rest of Kodiac, and the assistant is constrained to it rather than merely disclaimed around it.

  • No dosing figures, no administration or preparation guidance, no schedules and no routes.
  • No medical, clinical or veterinary advice, and no claim that any compound is safe or effective for any use.
  • No substitute for reading the source. Every citation names a monograph precisely so the claim can be checked.
  • No guarantee of correctness. It is a literature tool, and it can be wrong about what the literature says.

What we keep

Your email address, so the account exists and the quota is yours. A count of how many chats you have used in the current period. Nothing else: there is no password to leak, conversations are stored in your own browser rather than on a server, and clearing them here clears them everywhere.

Everything on this page describes a research tool. Nothing on it is an offer of sale, and nothing on it is guidance for use. Read the compliance reference before ordering any compound.
